ThorShield is a specially designed protective fabric which is more conductive than the human body. The electrical current of a Electro Shock Weapon/ Electronic Control devices will traverse ThorShield, the path of least electrical resistance, rather than your body. By conducting the current across ThorShield the wearer will not feel the pain or incapacitating effects of the Electro Shock Weapon/ Electronic Control devices.
Will I be protected if one TASER brand device probe is stuck in ThorShield and one probe is stuck in an unprotected part of my body?
No, you may be incapacitated or feel pain if one probe is stuck in ThorShield and one probe is in an unprotected part of your body.
No! ThorShield is specifically designed to protect the wearer from Electro Shock Weapon/ Electronic Control devices threats only. ThorShield will not provide protection from electrical hazards. If it is necessary for you to deal with any electrical hazards, your ThorShield should garment should be removed prior to taking any actions with the electrical hazard.
Yes, ThorShield will work when wet.
The ThorShield apparel products can be laundered like any other fabric; just follow the laundering instructions on the apparel label.
Absolutely not! A common myth is that metal attracts lightning. The three factors that dominate where lightning strikes near a thunderstorm are height, isolation, and shape. However, you do want to avoid large metal objects like metal fences or bleachers. If lightning does happen to strike them, they can conduct the deadly electricity a long distance to you. For more information about lightning, please refer to the National Weather Service.
The ThorShield outer shell / garment can be laundered like any other armor carrier. Just follow the laundering instructions on the armor carrier label.
Our testing has “shocked” samples hundreds of times with no loss of protection effectiveness. We have tested the durability of ThorShield, should an Officer have an Electro Shock Weapon/ Electronic Control devices hit their apparel (i.e. carrier vest) it should be return to the factory for inspection. This is especially true if they are stuck by TASER brand device probes as they can damage the ballistic package of the vest.
Like all fabrics after long term wear and laundering the fabric will begin to degrade. For example, ThorShield fabric in your armor vest carrier will provide effective protection against Electro Shock Weapon/ Electronic Control device weapons for the life of the armor carrier if properly cared for. As with all apparel and garments you should inspect them after each laundering. Should any defects be found with your apparel follow the garment warranty instructions for return to the factory for evaluation and/ or replacement as necessary.
Anytime the fabric is torn, cut or worn away it should be sent to the factory for evaluation and/or replacement as necessary.
